GFSI was established two decades ago to support food producers' food safety systems. Food retailers, food manufacturers, service providers, researchers, and authorities were involved in the development of the standards.
Its aim is to strengthen and harmonise food safety systems. Companies must develop their food safety and product safety systems and then choose which GFSI approved standard to certify their systems against.
GFSI does not certify food safety systems, it approves standards that comply with the principles for certification.
If you want a food safety system certified according to a GFSI approved standard, you must choose:
– which standard certification do we need – link to approved standards
– which independent certification company do we ask to certify our system?
Which standard of certification should we choose?
